Growing up

My lil Emma is growing way too fast for me. I can't believe she started 2nd Grade this year. Emma is such a great student and she loves school and seeing her friends. I was quite proud of myself that for the first time I did not cry when I dropped her off on the first day. And the other day we were walking home from school and Emma ditched me when she spotted Luke her dancing partner from last year and she ran ahead to walk with him. At least she still lets me hug and kiss her goodbye when I drop her off.
Emma loves dance, especially Ballet. She took it for a year back in Texas when she was four and we have been on a waiting list since we moved here a year ago and Emma was so excited when the wait was finally over. When Emma walks it is on her toes, something she has done since she could walk and something she inherited from Aaron. She is also naturally graceful, I think she will love Ballet this year being older. Hopefully next year I can talk her into trying Jazz too. She was too afraid this year because her friend told her you do the splits in Jazz. I can't wait for her recital in the Spring!

Lake Powell

My family takes an annual trip to Lake Powell every year but because we lived in Texas we haven't been able to go for the last 4 years. We were so excited to finally get to go this year. We had such a great time! I learned how to surf, which was lots of fun! The girls had fun playing with their cousins and playing in the red dirt. We look forward to next year.

VIP Day at the Zoo

A couple of weeks ago Emma won a coloring contest and we got a VIP trip to the Zoo for our family. It was so much fun! We got to ride on our very own golf cart with our tour guide which was very nice on the feet.

We got to choose which animal we wanted to be our close encounter so we chose the tigers. This guy is 2 years old and weighs over 400 lbs. The trainer was showing us some of his tricks but he was being really feisty and kept standing up and growling at us, it was really cool! She had to give him a time out to behave.
They had 4 giraffes and that one in the middle there is pregnant and due next month. Our tour guide said her baby will come out 6 feet tall and Im thinking are you serious, she doesn't even look pregnant, how does she fit a 6 foot giraffe in her without showing it??? Not fair! She said the animals in the zoo are just like that, they don't really put on a lot of weight or show when they are pregnant....I guess that's just for us humans :)
This was their baby monkey, she was so cute. As soon as she saw us pull up in our golf cart she got out of her bed and came and posed here and just stared at me while I took her picture. Our tour guide said her favorite game is to play tug of war with the trainers. She has a big sheet that she will throw at them and they will play tug of war together.
This is their Mommy and her baby elephant. Our guide said that she is a first time mother and that elephants and giraffes don't have instincts on how to care for their babies, the other moms show and teach the new moms what to do, but they don't have another mom to teach her the ropes and they were worried with how things would go but she said she has done so great for a first time Mom all by herself.
They gave us tickets for the carousel and to ride the train.
Besides our close animal encounter with the tiger, I would say the Bird Show was my favorite part. This little guy was right in front while we waited 20 minutes for the show to begin and as soon as the place filled up with people she wanted some attention and started dancing and singing to the music, the more we applauded her the more energetic she got, it was hilarious.
The trainer came out and showed us all these different types of birds and he would have them fly in from all over, they would swoop in right over our heads.
This one was quite the talker.
This owl was flying in and came right at us, it swooped right over my head.
The bald eagle was gorgeous to look at.
The Zoo became a Zoorasic park for the summer and had animated dinosaurs throughout the park. They were so life like it was awesome! They would move around, growl, and some shot water at you.

What a great day at the zoo!

Trip to Oregon

This month we got to take our first real road trip out to Oregon to visit Aarons sister Karley and her family. Karley has always made the effort to come see us every year wherever we have lived and so we thought it was time for us to finally make a trip out to see her. The longest trips in the car my kids are use to is 3-4 hours so this 10-12 hour trip was quite the difference plus Chloe came down with an ear ache, fever and sour throat during our drive which made things a little more difficult.

We had so much fun just hanging out, going to the park, splash pad, pool, playing games and Karley taught me how to make my own jewelry, cute huh? It's so addicting!

I've got to get me one of these.....mmmm maybe not :)

Giving Aunt Karley wet hugs, she's such a trooper.

Wii Dance for Kids is so much fun, the kids loved it!

All this driving was making Emma and Aunt Karley a little bit crazy.
Aaron made the long drive all by himself non stop to spend the weekend with us and Im so glad he made the effort and took the time off work to come join us, we had such a good time!

It's what fun is!

Grandma Bell treated us to Lagoon for Aaron's birthday and it was such a fun day! The weather was perfect and there were no long lines on any of the rides, we walked onto almost all of them, it was perfect.

Karter and Emma are the cutest cousins together! They are exactly one month apart, have the same temperaments and have always got along so great with each other.
Awaiting the waterfall on rattlesnake rapids....
Getting soaked :)
So much fun we got in line and did it again and it cooled us off for the rest of the day.
Better watch out, Emma's behind the wheel!

It's weird how the rides I loved as a kid I can't handle anymore cuz they make me sick, am I the only one?

Emma begged and begged to go on the big swings and I was glad I took her on them cuz she had the biggest smile on her face the whole time.

Best people ever, love these guys!
